What happens when the dream has ended?

When she was a child, Xue and her three best friends went to a world of fantasy and defeated the evil there. Or so they thought.

They returned to their own world, only to wake up in the hospital after a terrible accident. From that first waking moment, Xue struggled with what was real.

Was it the memories of saving that other world, as her friends said?

Or was that all a coma-dream as her parents, her doctors, and the very rules of reality said?

Xue listened to her parents, and for the past ten years clung to the mundane reality of the real world. Doing so cost her those important childhood friendships, but she is content. She is.

But then her friends come back into her life, and she learns they never stopped believing. With dangerous results. Now, as adults, the must face the consequences of their childhood choices.

And Xue is no longer certain her parents were right about what she experienced, or the very nature of reality.
